Our Story
Kiwi roots, real miles and a brand that grew outside
Wyld Peak didn’t begin with a polished business plan or a dramatic garage story written backwards to sound impressive.
It started with time outside.
Years spent walking, diving, travelling and noticing the gap between how outdoor life is sold and how it actually feels once you’re in it.

The roots are Kiwi, and that runs deeper than a flag in the footer.
New Zealand teaches you to pay attention. A clear morning can turn sideways before lunch. A short track can bite harder than the distance suggests. Sometimes the best part of the day is the summit. Sometimes it’s the creek at the end, the wrong turn or the moment everyone quietly accepts that the original plan is gone.
That mix of beauty, rough edges and practical thinking shaped Wyld Peak before the brand had fully worked out what it wanted to be.
Before Wyld Peak found its feet
Hayden didn’t set out to build another outdoor brand full of perfect summit shots and big promises.
What kept standing out was the gap between how outdoor life looked online and how it actually felt. Clothing that never became a real favourite. Hiking advice that gave you the numbers but skipped the useful stuff. Brands saying plenty about adventure and very little about fit, materials or limits.
Wyld Peak started as an attempt to cut through some of that noise.
The early version pulled in a few directions. Some ideas worked. Others looked better in a mock-up than they did in the real range.
That was part of finding the shape of it.
The collections tightened, the designs gained more character and anything generic or forced was reworked or dropped.
Wyld Peak became less interested in looking established and more interested in being useful.
That still guides the brand now.
Wild places are more than a backdrop
The longer Wyld Peak has grown around trails, national parks and public land, the harder it has become to treat those places as scenery behind a product.
They’re living landscapes, habitats, cultural places and shared spaces that can be damaged, restricted or lost when nobody pays attention.
That’s why conservation, responsible access and public land are part of the brand’s voice.
We believe outdoor brands that benefit from wild places should be willing to defend them. We’ve said that quite publicly, even when staying quiet would have been the safer marketing choice.
A tree is planted with every completed order. Selected products use organic, recycled or lower-impact materials where stated, and making many items after they’re ordered can help reduce piles of unwanted stock.
None of that makes Wyld Peak impact-free.
It means we’re willing to talk honestly about the impact, keep improving and stand behind the places that give this brand something to exist around.
What we won’t pretend
Wyld Peak won’t pretend every product is technical outdoor gear.
We won’t call every trail incredible because it makes a better headline.
We won’t describe something as sustainable without explaining what supports that claim.
We won’t act like every body experiences the same track in the same way.
And we won’t rewrite the past into a flawless founder story. Wyld Peak has changed direction, made mistakes and found better ways forward by paying attention.
That’s usually how worthwhile things are built.
Where Wyld Peak is heading
The brand makes more sense as a whole now.
The hiking guides shape better products. The products create better questions for the guides. The wider community brings experience that one person could never cover alone.
Wyld Peak will keep pushing further into honest trail content, useful outdoor advice, gear that earns repeat use and stories that leave more room for people who don’t fit the usual picture of adventure.
There will still be strange patches.
We’ll still call out nonsense when it matters.
And we’ll still choose the straight answer over the impressive one.
Where you come in
You don’t need to prove how outdoorsy you are.
Read a guide. Take the easier track. Wear the shirt until it becomes the old favourite. Put the weird patch on your pack. Turn around when the weather says enough. Stand up for the places that give something back.
Find the version of outside that feels like yours.
That was always the point.
